Public Paddles
One of our primary goals is to get as many people as possible out on the Shawsheen River. We organize trips for church groups, scout groups, businesses, local organizations, and the general public. We have a canoe trailer, about 10 canoes, several kayaks, paddles, and flotation vests. By combining SRWA gear, our members own equipment, and gear a group may have itself, we can accommodate up to thirty people. We can accommodate all ages and levels of expertise. Well-behaved children with their parents are welcome. We have official trips open to the general public from April through October, usually on the first Saturday of the month.
Educational Forums
We host informational events on a wide variety on topics; including:
• Turtles of New England
• Eyes On Owls
• Invasive plants identification and mitigation
• Co-existing with beavers
• Coyotes
• Open Space protection
• Bay Circuit Trail
• Raptors
• Pictorial tours of the Shawsheen River
Most meetings and events are open to the general public. There is never an admission charge. The SRWA hosts special events for school groups, Scout groups, companies, and other organizations. Please
